Editing

When editing we had someone who didnt study media with us so that they could have an imput and for them to say what looked good or bad and what needed to be changed. Having someone who who wasnt a media student and was someone who  is the targeted audience for our film helped us as they said what they would look for in a thriller film. As we know what we wanted our opening to look like, they were able to help us as they were open minded about it.

  1. There are several things about this - remember this is not a horror film! There are crucial differences between the thriller and horror genres that we discussed in the first lesson, and you must be clear about this. Also, there are good reasons for using someone not in the group, but they're mostly to do with the fact that as creators of the product you need to be fully occupied with that process, not with acting. Yes, as part of the target audience, your actor can make observations and suggestions, but these obviously mustn't be lost, and so must be written about here on the blog. Use an interesting format for that. The text above also needs illustration, and you need to reread your posts for punctuation, sense and clarity (these are all important for the assessment). Also, be careful to ensure that ideas for construction are actually yours - there's a difference between what you say your actor was doing and what her role should really be. She cannot help you create, she can make comments on what you have planned and already created.

  2. I am disappointed to find that there are STILL many parts of the required blog posts missing from your blog. These are compulsory stages that must be recorded from the planning, construction and editing phases. You may have these in draft, but they are no good there as they can't be seen by me for the deadline. They are therefore recorded as not having been done. You can only now add to existing posts that you've done earlier, and so you do have a problem with inserting anything retrospectively. There is also insufficient sense of equality in the posts (far fewer from Emily) and this must be reflected in the marks as things stand. You must spend far longer in your own time doing this - remember there is an expectation that you EACH spend at least 3 hours a week OF YOUR OWN
TIME on this work, and most of that work would normally be blogging as editing should be done
together in and out of lessons. Just so that you know, the blog itself (taking it as a whole) is currently a level 2+/low 3 (ie C/D) and you should not be content with this.
